Should you charge your phone overnight?

Do you leave your phones to charge on your bedside table while you sleep to ensure the maximum charge for the next day? If you plan to change devices every 2 years or so, this kind of practice may not matter to you much, but if you want to get the most out of your phone, you may have to change your ways.

It is basically agreed upon that for lithium batteries, the optimal charge ranges from 50% to 80%, any amount above 80% and below 50% may cause additional strain on the battery, therefore impacting its longevity.

You can always consider carrying a power bank around in your bag or have one handy in the car to ensure that you can keep your battery within the 50%-80% threshold. You can also use a fast charger to quickly get your battery charge up, another convenient fact about fast chargers is that they typically charge fastest to 50% or so, and fall off after 80%
